Welcome to the Underwater World of ReefColors

ReefColors is a collection of underwater photographs documenting the diversity of marine life and the underwater landscapes of dive sites around the world. The galleries are the result of more than 20 years of diving and underwater photography and currently include more than 700 uniquely identified marine species.

The photographs range from colorful coral reefs and reef fish to sharks, nudibranchs, crustaceans, cephalopods, and many other marine organisms. In addition to showcasing the beauty of the underwater world, they document interesting species, behaviors, colors, and habitats that make every dive unique.

Whether you are a diver, underwater photographer, marine biologist, or simply interested in the oceans, ReefColors offers much more than a collection of images. The website combines photography with information on marine biology, ecology, chemistry, physics, and underwater photography to explain some of the fascinating phenomena encountered beneath the surface.

Whenever possible, species are identified according to the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) and the widely used identification guides by Paul Humann and Ned DeLoach. Scientific names, common names, dive locations, and other metadata are fully searchable, making ReefColors a useful reference for identifying marine species and exploring the remarkable diversity of life in our oceans.

Take a look around, discover new species, revisit favorite dive sites, and enjoy the wonders of the ocean through the lens of ReefColors.
